Thom Yorke x Massive Attack x All Points East

Now, how does that sound??

Thom Yorke to support Massive Attack at All Points East 2020

2 March 2020

Radiohead's frontman will join the "massive" line-up at All Points East, in east London's Victoria Park on 24 May. Thom Yorke has been confirmed for All Points East 2020 and will support Massive Attack ahead of their headline set.

According to both bands, Massive Attack personally reached out to the musician to join them.

He is to perform solo, with a guitar and a piano – tracks from his own back-catalogue as well as Radiohead’s in "a never-seen-before way".

"You couldn’t hope for a more appropriate complement to Massive Attack’s dour, vaguely danceable doom," Time Out wrote today.

A long, productive and meaningful friendship

Thom Yorke and Massive Attack' 3D (aka Robert Del Naja) have indeed been friends since the mid 1990s, and collaborated on a few occasions. The Radiohead members have often praised Massive Atack's music, as I retell in my book, and 3D is a big fan of their albums.

Massive Attack opened for Radiohead in Dublin Ireland, in June 1997, before the release of their 'Risingson' EP, announcing the release f their third album, Mezzanine, in 1998.

Yorke and Del Naja have also worked together on a anti-tax evasion film score, supported the Occupy movement and lately Extinction Rebellion and been some of the rare leaders of a left-leaning, "dub-friendly electronic-rock movement", as Time Out describes it, for the past two decades.
