About the great work of 'Amis d'Afrique', NGO in Boy Rabe, Bangui

WFP works in Boy Rabe with the local NGO 'Les Amis d'Afrique' for health care and food distribution to moderately malnourished children as well as their mothers.

Sandrine, mother of two, came with her younger child, Brayane, to the health centre as she does twice a week in order to get him treated against malnutrition and to get some food. The food provided by WFP is their only help, for her, her son Brayane and her daughter Naomie. As her husband left for Brazzaville in order to find a better job but never sent any money, Sandrine now lives in Boy Rabe at her grand-mother's house; her own parents being dead. She used to go to her grandmother's field to get cassava and sell a part of the food, but with the insecurity she cannot do it anymore.

Here in Boy Rabe's centre "Les Amis d'Afrique" (Africa's friends), she gets milk for the child and also dry food to bring back home.

Vivianne took her son John Peter to the centre today also because she depends on the NGO for food. Mother of four children, she is pregnant, but her husband died during the crisis.

Her house has been looted and burnt. She and her children now live with her step-brother and the grand-parents in Bafio, near Boy Rabe.  She had to be displaced and hosted in a camp for months before this situation was found. Now they still depend on WFP for food as none of them has work.

Dozens of mothers and children like John Peter and Viviane, Brayane and Sandrine, still rely on such a help, with insecurity is still prevalent in the Central African Republic.
