It is October and our side of the world it is deep autumn, with its series of daily rains and mean winds.
But to survive what my body has learnt in other parts of the world to consider as hellish coldness, I am mentally trying to recreatethis mythical poetic about stormy weathers and the fall of the summer our literature and art scene in Britain and France so well mastered a few centuries ago and I was so sensitive to when I was younger and stuck in my homeland...

I often mention here and there and in previous posts that in Mexico City or Nairobi, this season is much warmer or even spring, and that even during the cold seasons it rarely rains before 3 or 4pm and how much I think it is delightful and practical.
But this week for the first time since I left France in 2008, in a morning fog embracing the Eiffel Tower, I remembered what it felt like in my teenage rimbaldian years to worship the autumn for its aesthetic values.
So, luckily, autumn is the time of new painting exhibitions and art fairs! Ain't we lucky?

Next weekend, from October 18, it will be Paris' turn to try to impress contemporaty art collectors and painting and sculpture lovers at the FIAC, la Foire internationale d'Art Contemporain de Paris:
http://www.fiac.com/
It takes place in the gorgeous Grand Palais for four days and still tries to upscale the London Fair:
"Both international and French, FIAC has become one of the major events in artistic creation. FIAC continues its development and confirms its status as a major international art fair. For
its 39th year, FIAC continues to build on past editions, developing and
evolving while maintaining the strong features inherent to FIAC,
including: its rigorous selection process, guaranteeing exemplary
standards of quality; its broad scope, which allows for a balanced
overview of modern and contemporary art and works by emerging artists;
its firm foothold in the heart of Paris, working alongside public and
private stakeholders in the world of arts and culture; and it's acute
perceptiveness surrounding current developments within the creative and
intellectual fields, both on a Parisian and world wide scale".

I'll comment from the FIAC next weekend!
Enjoy.
