KENYA / SOMALIA: three foreigners charged with illegally entering Kenya. Suspected of terrorism.

In Kenya, three foreigners have been charged with illegally entering Kenya.
They are facing terrorism charges at home and are set to be deported, according to lawyers and officials.
Two of the men, Ben Abdalla Ismail and Rachid Benimari, are French nationals, a third, Mustapha Bouyabaren, is said to be Belgian.

The men are accused to have arrived in Kenya from Somalia, where they could have be affiliated with the Islamist insurgency of Al Shebabs.

Njeru Mwaniki, Kenya's anti-terrorism police chief said they "have information that they are wanted by their countries on terrorism related issues".

I spoke to Abdi Aynte, director of the Heritage Insitute for Policy Studies, based in Mogadishu. For him, this shows the Shebabs still have a power of attraction.
